| COME AND SING WITH US! Second Church has a rich history in music and is open to all styles of worship singing. While many of our members have practiced classical worship music, we are a diverse group of “amateurs.” Singers range from “I’m just learning to sing” to soloists and instrumentalists. We invite all ages to come and join the fun in worshipful singing!
Leea Snape has been the Organist and Choir Director for Second Congregational Church for nearly three years. She has played the piano since age four, studying under Chonghyo Shin, and organ under Hedley Yost. She is a member of the American Guild of Organist, Springfield Chapter and has received the AGO service playing certificate.
The adult Chancel Choir participates in worship from the beginning of September to mid-June (summer break after Pentecost). Rehearsals are Thursday evenings at 7:00 p.m. and Sundays at 9:00 a.m. prior to worship. If time doesn’t allow attending the traditional Thursday night rehearsal, singers may come to the 9:00 a.m. Sunday “warm-up.” The four-part choral group varies in number from a consistent 8 to between 25 and 40 during Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, and Pentecost when the “expanded choir” participates in those holiday worship services.
Leea would like to start a youth choir. If you have a child who is 5 years or older who would like to sing in a young people’s choir, just contact the church office. Leea will be happy to speak to parents about getting their children involved in singing.
Are you a bell ringer? Would you like to start a Bell Choir with Second Church? We
have a four-octave set of handbells that need to be rung. Contact our church office
if you are interested in becoming a “ringer.” |
