Latest update (2/6) -- USOF Board member and OCIN stalwart Mike Minium has moved into the lead after Saturday's tripleheader at Sharon Woods, duplicating his feat of last year when he also lead the series in February. Whether he will still be there in September remains to be seen. Suzanne is still out front for the women.
The schedule is starting to get fill out, now up to 45 sprints. Will it hit 100 this year?
Latest update (1/17) -- Suzanne Armstrong has taken over the lead in the Sprint Series with her win at the Anza-Borrego sprint in the southern California desert, while for the men it's, oh, no, we've double-checked the numbers and it seems to be true, the Commissioner is in first place!? Clearly the system is fixed. We reached the Commissioner by phone to ask what the secret was -- he was still suffering from jet lag and rather hard to understand, but we think he mumbled, "Run often, run fast, and if you can't run fast, at least run often."
Note that links to maps and results (when available) are in the List of sprints at the bottom of this page.
Latest update (1/7) -- She's back! Samantha Saeger has taken her first win of the 2006 Sprint Series, edging Sandy Holt Johansen, Canada's star performer (9th in the middle distance) at the 2005 World Champs in Japan. Mike Smith did uphold his country's and family's honor with a victory in the men's race. Next on the schedule is the Team Fundraiser sprint -- a 45-pointer -- at the SDOC/LAOC A meet next weekend.
Latest update (1/3) -- The 2006 Sprint Series is off and running following a post-midnight sprint on January 1 at Green Lake Park in Seattle. Taking the early lead are Kelsey Breseman (F16!) and Roger Michel.
We're adding a new feature to the standings this year. Along with the individual race points for each person, we adding in parentheses the number of the sprint that those points were earned at. The list of sprints is further down this page. So you can see where you (or your competitors) have done well. And also so Boris can keep track of all the numbers and remember which races have already been included in the standings.
Peter
By the way, many thanks to Assistant Commissioner Boris Granovskiy for the number crunching in the compilation of the standings!
