The Summit House on Mt. Holyoke is open daily to the public from Memorial Day to Columbus Day. Water and restrooms are available during this time. Maps and guidebooks and sometimes snacks can be purchased form volunteers inside the building. The metal lookout tower on Mt. Hitchcock was dismantled due to safety concerns though there are limited views north from a promentory 50 yards away. The US Geological Survey has officially changed the name of the Holyoke Range to the "Mount Holyoke Range" in response to citizen involvement. The State Park has also adopted this name change, as has the non-profit Friends of the MOUNT Holyoke Range.
