After you cross MA 2 going North into the village of Farley, the trail goes up Holmes St a short distance. From here, the trail was relocated onto Wells St (Take next left). The old route went past Wells St and turned left onto Briggs St. Also, an AmeriCorps trail crew built a side trail in 1998 to the "Erving Castle" site. The side trail is located about 1.9 mile hike in north of MA 2 on the M-M Trail and is clearly marked with blue blazes. Both of these trail changes appear in the M-M Trail Guide 9th edition-1999.

Beautiful hike up waterfalls from RTE2. Took a connector trail (marked with orange ribbons) at top of falls over to Northfield Mt. trail system to check out area. Lots of day hikers here. Nice view from observation platform on reservoir. You can see your hike ahead over Hermit Mt. and Mt. Crag. Loved the view of Miller River Valley. Trail pretty flat from top of falls to Mt. Crag. Mt.Crag crowded with campers (guys with their childern, young couples, and 3 guitar players).
