ReportText:
This entire section of trail has been officially designated the "Walter Banfield Memorial" section of trail in honor of the late Mr. Banfield who was the founder of the M-M Trail in Massachusetts. Signs will be posted to that effect on both ends of the section in the near future. The trail passes through the estate of Mr. Banfield for about 1/2 mile before coming out onto Pratt Corner Rd in Shutesbury. A perennial wet spot about 1 mile south of Pratt Corner Rd has been alleviated by the construction of badly needed bog bridging.

ReportText:
The section starting right off at North Valley Rd, (northbound) which climbs steeply for 100 yards beneath the power lines, is being rehabilitated. A local volunteer and friends have placed stone waterbars to control erosion on the first half of this washed out section. They expect to complete their work before summer, 2000.

Report Text:
At the end of this section a temp. relocation will be in effect for the summer of 2000, because of logging and bridge construction. The hiker should take a right at 4.2 miles and follow blazing on Pratt Corner Rd to Market Hill Rd. where you will take a left for a short distance and then right off Market Hill Rd. to enter Section 13. Both the MM and the Robert Frost Trails will use this route during this period.
