BLAIR MANUFACTURING COMPANY

Blair "EASY" 14" x 3 blade

In 1879 James S. Blair and Henry G. Fiske formed, Blair & Fiske Manufacturing Company, Springfield Massachusetts. They began to produce the "EASY" reel lawn mower incorporating Henry’s patent for a, hollow, open tine rear roller. The company claimed lighter weight and better traction for their new mower.

In 1884 Blair bought out Fiske with the resulting company being renamed Blair Manufacturing Company. The "EASY" may have been available on special order until after the Second World War, an amazing 70 years of production. Western Tool & Stamping Co. bought Blair and closed the Birnie Avenue plant in 1959 to consolidate manufacturing in its main plant in Des Moines IA.
