Lawrence Sumner Dickinson ( 08/29/1888 - 04/21/1965 ) Professor of Agrostology, Massachusetts Agricultural College

In 1927 Professor Dickinson established a Winter Turfgrass School for turf managers. This 10 week course was the first of its kind in the country. He later helped develop the two year Turf Management Program at the Stockbridge School of Massachusetts Agricultural College now known as the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

His book: The lawn; the culture of turf in park, golfing, and home areas, was published by Orange Judd Publishing Company, New York 1930
