Treat each other well

When a bunch of Black people come together, enormous safety is created. This much safety allows us to notice feelings that we keep under wraps most of the time.

Our nearest and dearest relatives and friends were the instruments through which the early oppression was "laid-in." Coming together allows us to feel how that oppression was internalized. If we grew up in predominantly white communities, early feelings of isolation and separation from Black people can come up ready to be discharged.
Using the support of your cherished Black co-counselors, this workshop is a marvelous opportunity to "unload" buckets and buckets of the internalized oppression.

Remember, our goal is to discharge the IO - not dramatize it at each other or hold it in.

Here are some guidelines:

1. When you notice the IO coming up, ask someone for five minutes.
2. When you notice the IO coming up for someone else, offer to give him or her five minutes.

Sessions

Start now discharging about the workshop.

1. Discharge about being in a predominantly Black country.
2. Discharge about being in Jamaica, getting your groove back and it's not about sex.
3. Discharge about the approaching millenium and how you wish to enter.
4. Discharge from the perspective that the ancestors were not slaves. Many Africans were held in a condition of captivity or subjected to imperialism.
5. We will no longer mis-identify the humans with the conditions under which they were held.
6. The effects of this can be discharged.

Get ready to have a good time.
